Broughty Athletic JFC starts their 2017/18 Super League season this Saturday when newly promoted Sauchie come calling to Whitton Park in the opening league fixture.
Managerless Broughty go into the game with defender Jamie McCunnie taking charge of things since the weekend with Jamie Winter and Iain Ross helping out by his side and training has gone well this week, a 7-2 win on Tuesday night against amateur side Cupar Hearts AFC and a good session on Thursday night at Whitton Park.
Visitors Sauchie return to the Super League after finishing as champions of the Premier League last season with Kennoway Star Hearts as runners-up. The previous season they lost the relegation playoff and slid into the Premier League.
Previous scores between the sides saw the sides battle out a 2-2 draw at Sauchie and a 3-2 defeat for the Fed at Whitton Park, a game that saw the Fed go in at half time 2-1 up but a second half comeback for Sauchie took the points away from Whitton Park two seasons ago. The sides also met this year back in January, in the Scottish Junior Cup with the Fed slumping to a 4-0 home defeat.
The Fed go into the game with really only one player missing through injury, recent new signing Dayle Robertson, having picked up a calf strain in the recent friendly against local side North End. Otherwise, it’s a full pool to choose from for Jamie McCunnie in his first game in temporary charge.
All fans are reminded this game is a 2-30pm kick off at Whitton Park. The ‘Broughty Pie Shop’ will be in operation for those wanting a bite to eat before or during the game.
Admission prices are £6 for Adults and £3 for OAP’s/Kids.
