Broughty Athletic can officially confirm that striker Kevin Buchan has signed for the club on a two and a half year contract from senior side Cove Rangers, the side he left the Fed for back in the summer. Kevin is pictured above with Fed manager Keith Gibson before Saturday’s league game away to Jeanfield Swifts.
The former Peterhead and Arbroath striker joined the Fed late 2015 on loan from senior side Brechin City and scored 24 goals, which included a couple of hat-tricks, in his brief spell at the club and was a constant thorn in the opposition’s efforts to cope with him during a game. He finished top goalscorer at the end of the season with the club.
But with him wishing to try his trade at senior level, Kevin, pictured left starring against Musselburgh Athletic last season at Whitton Park, left and joined the Highland League side. In November he briefly had a four-week spell at local rivals Lochee United before returning to Cove Rangers before the deal was struck to rejoin the Whitton Park side.
BAJFC manager Keith Gibson said on his new signing…
“We’re glad to have Kevin back at the club. We’ve missed his presence up front as we’ve been a bit light scoring the goals. Kevin is a natural goal scorer and knows how to put the ball in the net, given the chance. He’s joining a squad that has changed quite a bit since he last played for us, these lads have seen us hit the dizzy heights in the Super League and together now with Kevin, we aim to stay as high as possible…”
Kevin was a used substitute during the 1-1 Super League game against Jeanfield Swifts on Saturday, coming on in the second half for Ross McCord. But he will now have to wait to get his chance in the side as the league is on a three-week shutdown over Christmas and New Year. Broughty will kick off 2017 on January 7th with a trip to Newtongrange Star.
All at BAJFC welcome Kevin back to the club and wish him all the very best during his time here.
