Broughty Athletic can officially announce that goalkeeper Josh Allardyce and midfielder Jake Mair have been released from the club along with striker Kevin Buchan.
Goalkeeper Josh, pictured above, was signed on loan from local side Carnoustie Panmure back in mid-November as cover for Iain Ross following the injury of John Sinclair. With John now returned to full fitness and training, Josh has been released to find himself a new club.
Midfielder Jake Mair, pictured left against Linlithgow Rose, suffered a dislocated shoulder last season and he missed a part of Broughty’s first maiden season in the Super League. He returned at the end of the season and trained with the squad in pre-season and started the first game of this season, a 2-1 win at Linlithgow Rose, and came through the game well and was to be a big part of the manager’s plans for the season ahead.
He went on to play in the 3-3 draw against Jeanfield Swifts, the 4-0 win over Carnoustie Panmure, the 4-0 defeat at Bonnyrigg Rose until he came on as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 home win against Musselburgh Athletic at the end of August and within minutes had fallen under a challenge and again dislocated his shoulder. He was ruled out by doctors for this season and potentially next season after his operation in January so after talks with the club management, it was decided by mutual consent to leave the club.
Kevin has been released with immediate effect due to internal club matters following Saturday’s 2-0 win over Fauldhouse in the Super League.
Everyone at BAJFC wishes all three players all the very best in their futures and thank them for their time at the club.
