Broughty Athletic are on GA Engineering 3rd Round cup duty this Saturday when they make the trip to face North-Region Super League side Stonehaven.
The Fed were rewarded with the trip following their 2-1 away win over Tayport back in December with goals from Paul McLellan and Kevin Buchan, with Stonehaven defeating Colony Park 2-0 in their previous round game.
Hosts Stonehaven currently sit second in their North-Region Super League, eight points behind league leaders Banks O’ Dee but with four games in hand. As with Broughty, Stonehaven have barely played since the turn of the year, just the two games, a 6-1 thumping from West Region side Rossvale in the Scottish Junior Cup, and more recently their 2-0 away win over Colony Park in the previous round of this cup competition.
The Fed once again are injury free going into the game, with only defender Jamie Sime missing, currently on loan at local side Dundee Violet. With last Saturday’s Super League clash against Musselburgh Athletic called off due to the bad weather, Broughty gaffer Keith Gibson will be hopeful the weather up north holds out and he can see his squad go up against their North Super League rivals, and book their place in the hat for the next round.
All fans are reminded this game is a 2-15pm kick off at Glenury Park, home of Stonehaven FC. Should the game end in a draw after ninety minutes, a penalty shoot-out will determine who goes into the hat for the next round.
