All roads lead to Whitton Park this Saturday as Broughty Athletic welcome Glasgow based side St Rochs in the 5th round of the Scottish Junior Cup. A victory for either side sees them take in a place in the draw for the quarter-finals of the competition.

Visitors St Rochs currently ply their trade in the West Region Championship league and currently sit in twelfth place in their sixteen team league having won five, drawn three and lost ten games so far.

Their most recent result was a 2-0 away loss at the hands of Shotts-Bon-Accord in the league. Their two previous league games saw them held 1-1 in both games against Cambuslang Rangers, the team Broughty defeated in the last round of the cup, and Gartcairn.

Our visitors are also proud winners of the Scottish Junior Cup away back in the season of 1921-22.

Broughty go into the game fresh of a pulsating 2-2 at home to Carnoustie Panmure two weeks ago. Last Saturday’s game against Forfar West End was called off due to a frozen pitch in Forfar giving the players carrying injuries some time to rest and heal. Prior to the 2-2 game, Broughty were 3-1 winners over Kirriemuir Thistle with leading scorer Bryan Duell netting a double.

Manager Jamie McCunnie reports the squad have trained, trained hard and will be ready for Saturdays match with St Rochs.

All fans are reminded this game is a 1-45pm kick-off at Whitton Park. Should the game end in a draw then a replay at James McGrory Park next Saturday 1st Feb will take place meaning the proposed Super League fixture away to Dundee North End would be postponed.
