Broughty Athletic make the first of two away games this Saturday when they make the journey to Alloa to face Sauchie in the Super League at Beechwood Park.
Sauchie were recently promoted to the Super League last season after finishing as champions, six points clear of runner-up Kennoway Star Hearts. The previous season to this they were relegated from the Super League after losing 10-0 over a two-legged play-off against local side Lochee United following their third bottom finish in the league.
In season 2015/16 the previous scorelines between the sides saw a 2-2 draw at Beechwood Park followed by a 3-2 win for Sauchie at Whitton Park in February 2016. The Fed lost 4-0 at home in last seasons Scottish Cup 4th round also to this weekends hosts. The sides have already met this season with the Fed coming out on top at Whitton Park with a narrow 1-0 win in the opening game of the season, Paul McLellan was the match winner with a first-half penalty.
Sauchie currently sit third bottom of the Super League, seven points behind the Fed who are in seventh, and their last three fixtures in the league have seen them lose 3-0 away to Jeanfield Swifts, 1-0 away to Linlithgow Rose and defeat Carnoustie Panmure 1-0 at Beechwood Park. They are the second lowest scorers in the league this season so far with just nine goals scored, four of them at home in six games. Only Forfar West End have scored less with seven goals in twelve games.
Broughty go into the game following a positive performance last Saturday, being held 0-0 at home to Bonnyrigg Rose and Fed gaffer Jim Finlayson will be looking for his side to build on that game and bring the points home come Saturday. Squad wise, the Fed welcome back defender Ryan Blair from his two-game suspension but Derryn Kesson still misses out as he serves his final suspension following his sending off against Bathgate Thistle in the Scottish Cup.
All fans are reminded this game is a 2pm kick off at Beechwood Park, home of Sauchie JFC.
