Broughty Athletic defeated a youthful and talented young North End side at North End Park tonight, winning 2-1 in the process. It was a chance for some fringe players to gain match fitness and to bring recently injured pair Barry Myles and Jamie Sime back into playing after recent long-term injuries and for two trialists to impress.
A Bryan Duell goal on 15mins put The Fed 1-0 up in the first half before several changes in the team at halftime. Lee Sibanda doubled Broughty’s lead on 80mins before North End eventually scored a consolation goal three minutes before the final whistle after testing Fed goalkeeper John Sinclair several times throughout the game.
Both defenders Barry Myles and Jamie Sime impressed in their first games back for several weeks, Barry starting the match and lasting 60 minutes, Jamie Sime coming on for the last 25 minutes and doing well. Both trialists both done well too with the manager, Keith Gibson, watching closely.
