Following on from the recent appointment of Jamie Winter as the club’s new captain, BAJFC can announce that attacking midfielder Grant Lawson has been appointed as the vice-captain of the side.DSC_0329 (2)

With the captaincy and vice-captaincy position up for grabs, manager Keith Gibson had to think over the summer break of his next choices for his side and with Jamie getting the nod for the captains position, it opened up a move for Grant to become his understudy and he accepted without a second thought.

Before Grant’s move to Broughty this time last year, he was captain at his former side, Tayport, and led them to Premier League and GA Cup double so is no stranger to helping lead a side during a game or season. Grant’s previous clubs also include Lochee United, Downfield and Forfar West End.DSC_0548

BAJFC manager Keith Gibson spoke of Grant’s vice-captain appointment by saying… “I’m delighted Grant accepted the position when I asked him. He is one of the more experienced players in the team having played Junior football for the last ten years in good sides and more recently last year leaving Tayport as a league and cup winner as captain. Together, with Jamie as captain, both players will hopefully show their leadership qualities on and off the park and help push the club further in the coming season ahead…”

Grant’s new role will start with immediate effect as the side are currently in their pre-season campaign, with their first official fixture being away to Linlithgow Rose on Saturday 6th August in the Super League. Grant was honoured to be asked and said he will relish the position and help push the club forward on and off the field and had this to say…

“As soon as the gaffer asked me I accepted straight away. I’m honoured to be vice-captain, with Jamie as captain, and I will give the position 100% in the season ahead. The downside to the new job is I’m going to have to up my fitness levels and effort during training sessions, but on the plus side, someone else will have to carry and fill the water bottles seeing as I’m second in command now and that isn’t a job for me anymore! Surely it still won’t be me will it?…

All at BAJFC congratulate Grant on his new role at the club and wish him all the best for the season ahead.
