Broughty Athletic JFC are pleased to announce the signing of former Trinidad & Tobago striker Richard(Shaka)Roy until the end of the season.
29yr old Shaka, who lives in the city of Dundee, was recently on a four-month loan at senior side Hamilton Accies which came to an end at the start of January. He only managed two appearances for Hamilton during that time. His previous footballing history includes being capped seven times for his country, making his debut in 2008. He played for Defence Force in his homeland of Trinidad for nine years prior to moving to Scotland.
Shaka was brought to the attention of the manager, Keith Gibson, who invited him up for training. He trained with the Fed on a couple of occasions working on his fitness with a view to signing which was completed on Thursday night. On his recent capture manager, Keith Gibson had this to say…
“Shaka has shown enough to me in a couple of training sessions that I wanted him here at the club to help bolster our strikeforce. He’s a big guy, very experienced and will handle himself well in a game. We’ve signed him until the end of the season so we’ll see how it goes. He’ll go straight into Saturday’s squad for our trip to Camelon as we are already light on numbers due to recent injuries with Brian Clark picking up a bad knock on his right ankle in the Sauchie defeat Saturday past so he’s out of the weekend game…”
Broughty will be looking to get back to winning ways as they face Camelon at Carmuirs Park on Saturday with kick off at 1-45pm.
