Broughty Athletic will be looking to put last Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat behind them as they try to claim all three points on offer when they welcome 4th placed Musselburgh Athletic to Whitton Park this Saturday in a league clash.
The side’s previously met away back in early September in the EOS Cup, with The Fed winning the tie 3-1 with goals from Bryan Duell, Stuart McConnachie and former player Lee Sibanda. But Saturday will the first meeting between the sides in the Super League, and last September’s scoreline a distant memory. The picture below from the previous meeting between the sides.
Visitors Musselburgh, like Broughty, have barely played much competitive football due to the weather call-offs. Since the EOS Cup defeat though to Broughty in September, Musselburgh went on an eight-game winning streak in the Super League, pushing them to the top end of the league. Their only fixture in the Super League this year was on the 23rd January, suffering a 3-1 defeat away to St Andrew’s United so a very tough game is in store for The Fed.
Broughty have no fresh injury worries following last Saturday’s defeat and will be looking for much more of the first half performance against Sauchie, scoring twice and creating several other good chances, going into the game against their visitors. Defender Jamie Sime is the only noticeable absentee, he is currently on loan at local side Dundee Violet.
All fans are reminded Saturday’s game at Whitton Park is a 2-15pm kick-off. Admission prices are £5 for Adults and £2 for OAP/Kids.
