Broughty Athletic went down 5-1 to a well organised, strong, physical Montrose side last night at Links Park in a pre-arranged friendly match.

With last Saturday’s Super League friendly against Broxburn Athletic postponed due to a frozen pitch, Fed manager Keith Gibson had this friendly lined up to give the squad some match time in preparation for this Saturday’s East of Scotland Cup clash away to Lochgelly Albert.

The Fed were 3-0 down going in at halftime despite a couple of decent chances falling to Grant Lawson and James Collier. A further two goals had the Fed 5-0 down at one stage before second half substitute Ryan Suttie grabbed a consolation goal for the visitors, making the fulltime score 5-1.

It was a decent workout against a very good Montrose FC side that were quick on the ball and precise with their passing and moving around the park.
