Broughty Athletic manager Jamie McCunnie hailed his side as excellent following their convincing 6-0 thrashing of Tayport at Whitton Park on Saturday in the Super League. He also looks forward to the next round of the Scottish Junior Cup draw that takes place this week as his team are on a high with recent results. Read what he had to say below…

“We were just happy to have a game to play this week after last Saturday’s game against Tayport was postponed at their place.
Training leading up to the game had been really sharp, especially Thursday nights. However, even I couldn’t have wished for a better start on Saturday, Greig Mcnaughton (pictured) tried his luck after about 20 seconds with a long-range cross come shot and fortunately for us it flew past the keeper and gave us the perfect start. From there on I thought we played some great attacking football at times and if anything, I think the players were a bit disappointed they didn’t take some more of the chances on the day and make the scoreline even more emphatic than it was.

There is a still a lot to work on but hopefully, anyone that was at the game on Saturday can see we are moving in the right direction and enjoyed what they saw. It’s important you play to your strengths, the energy and pace we have in our team really allows us to open up and get at teams. To a man, we were excellent on Saturday and we now look forward to the Scottish Junior Cup draw on Tuesday afternoon to see who we get then the work starts at training on Tuesday night for our next league game on Saturday against Kirriemuir Thistle…”
