Broughty Athletic manager Jim Finlayson spoke of his disappointment but still said positives could be taken from the heavy 4-1 defeat to Penicuik Athletic on Saturday. Read below what he had to say about the game and his side’s performance…

“We faced the league leaders Penicuik Athletic on Saturday but unfortunately we, as a team, did not perform as well as we have been doing and we were made to pay for that by a very useful side. We were caught out too many times on the break and that has to stop. Too many individual mistakes too from some players having an off day.

But on the positive side of the defeat, we now all know we are much better than the way we played against Penicuik and having spoken to players after the game they realise that the level they produced on Saturday is not what we all want at the club.

We will progress together and work towards getting better results and performances throughout the season. We will regroup, take the defeat on the chin and move on to next weekend and the trip to Hill of Beath at Keirs Park. It will be another tough game, as all of the Super League games are, but we’ll prepare for Saturday and put in two good training sessions then take that into the game…”
