Fed manager Jamie McCunnie saw a ruthless side to his side’s finishing in front of goal on Saturday as Broughty Athletic ran out comfortable winners hitting home ten goals against fellow Super League side Scone Thistle in the 3rd round of the Thorntons Property League Cup at Whitton Park.

Read what he had to say below…

“We couldn’t ask for anything more than what we got on Saturday from the players. To a man, they were excellent despite the blustery conditions and we managed to keep a clean sheet ourselves and scored some terrific goals, including three hat-tricks from Brad Smith, Bryan Duell and Derryn Kesson (pictured), throughout the game.

We’ve been playing well in our attacking areas, especially at home, but not always converting the chances that we make. It was good to see a ruthless side to our play on Saturday and the boys getting the reward of their hard work with a great win.

In fairness to Scone, they had a few experienced players missing on the day and I’m sure they will be back stronger next Saturday for our league encounter with them and it will be a much tougher test than what we witnessed.

The only unfortunate thing from the game, we had to take a couple of players off with injuries during and given we already had two missing with similar problems, it’s all adding up for us on the injury front. Hopefully, we can get some rehabilitation done with them this week at training and they will be able to play some part in next Saturday’s game…”

As Jamie says, Broughty welcome Scone Thistle back to Whitton Park next Saturday in the McBookie North Super League, kick-off is again at 2-30pm.
