On the eve of the new 2017/18 season which starts on Saturday at home to Sauchie, the club has been dealt a heavy blow with the news that manager Keith Gibson has resigned from the club with immediate effect along with club coach Tony McAuley.

Keith, in his time as manager at the club, gained promotion to the Super League via the playoff win over Armadale Thistle then went on to finish 10th in his first season as manager in the Super League followed by 7th position and winning the GA Engineering Cup in the season just finished. Keith and Tony were always first-class in their efforts on and off the field within the club, be it taking the team across the country on match days to mucking out and getting their hands dirty in the clubrooms behind the scenes as well as organising social events throughout the season and both were an absolute joy to have around the club.

Following the departure of both, which was accepted by the club, defender Jamie McCunnie, who recently took up a role as coach at the club during the summer break, will take temporary charge in the meantime assisted by goalkeeper Iain Ross and club captain Jamie Winter until a new manager is appointed in the near future. The trio’s first game at the helm will be at tonight’s friendly with amateur side Cupar Hearts, who are managed by ex-Fed striker, Lee Sibanda.

The club would, therefore, like to thank Keith and Tony for their tremendous hard work and efforts during their time at the club on and off the field and wish them both all the very best in the future…
