Broughty Athletic manager Keith Gibson was more than happy following his sides 4-2 win over Tayport on Saturday in the Super League.
Read below what he had to say on the win and game…
“After the disappointment of losing to Hill of Beath last weekend we were looking to get a big reaction from the players and overall I felt we got it in the first half especially. We played some excellent football throughout the park and if I were to be honest, I was a little bit disappointed that we only went in at half time 2-0 up after Kevin Buchans double as it should have been more. We created some good goalscoring opportunities and also limited Tayport to a couple of half chances.
In the second half, we started pretty much the same but we did begin to sit a bit deeper which allowed Tayport more time on the ball. But then we go and score an excellent third goal by Paul McLellan and at that point I couldn’t see any way back into the game for them but fair play they did. It was a mixture of my players switching off and Tayport pressing more and more. But the players dug in and Grant Lawson scored a great solo goal in the dying seconds to seal the win for us.
Overall I felt we deserved our win and felt we were excellent for 65/70 minutes of the game, but we need to build on that and take confidence from the performance going into next weekend’s game at home to St Andrews United and cut out losing sloppy goals…”
