Broughty Athletic welcome local rivals Lochee United to Whitton Park on Wednesday night in their last Super League fixture of the 2017/18 campaign. Kicking off the season away back on the 5th August with a 1-0 home win over Sauchie sees the Fed looking to finish a troublesome season with a win come Wednesday night.
Visitors Lochee currently sit in sixth position in the league table, three places above Broughty and two points more with three games in hand over the Fed due to United’s long run in the Scottish Junior Cup. They played a home fixture against Camelon on Monday night and came back to win 3-2 after being 2-0 down at halftime.
Their previous three league results have seen them lose twice against Bo’ness United 3-0 and Carnoustie Panmure 2-0 but managed a 4-3 home win over Newtongrange Star. The sides met away back in mid-August but Broughty came away from Thomson Park with nothing following a 1-0 defeat against their hosts.
Last season the Bluebells did the double over the Fed, winning 2-0 at Thomson Park and 3-2 at Whitton Park on the last day of the season so a result is long overdue for the Fed and Wednesday hopefully could be the night for that.
Broughty go into the game with no fresh injury worries but manager Jamie McCunnie will have to make a choice on his starting keeper following the substitution of John Sinclair on Saturday for a slight injury with Chris McPherson coming on taking his place in the second half. Derryn Kesson will be back into the squad following his two-game suspension as he missed both the Bonnyrigg and Hill of Beath defeats. A major improvement in performance is what the manager is demanding to finish the season following two recent poor displays in where the Fed have conceded nine goals and only scoring one in return.
All fans are reminded this game is a 7pm kickoff at Whitton Park, home of Broughty Athletic. For those wishing to grab a bite to eat the “Broughty Pie Shop” will be in operation before and during the game.
Admission prices are as follows, £6 for Adults and £3 for Concessions/Kids.
