Broughty Athletic have been dealt a major blow before opening day of the new the new Super League season this Saturday as attacking winger Grant Lawson has been ruled out for several weeks with damaged ankle ligaments, suffered in a pre-season friendly against Slyne with Hest FC, in Morecambe on Saturday past.
Grant, who recently became the club’s vice-captain in mid-July following the appointment of Jamie Winter as captain, played an influential part in Broughty’s first season in the Super League, helping his side to a respectable tenth place finish in the league and scored some cracking goals along the way too and he will be missed within the squad for the opening weeks of the season.
Initial reports from Grant’s visit to the club’s physio, Andrew Suttie at www.dundeephysiotherapy.com are Grant has potentially torn all ligaments in his ankle and possible tendon damage within his leg. With his ankle area so swollen it could be another couple of weeks before a full idea of what damage has occurred.
All at the BAJFC wish Grant, pictured above at a recent training session, a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back as soon as possible from his injury.
