Footballing legend Kenny Dalglish was in the clubrooms of Whitton Park, home of Broughty Athletic JFC, yesterday during his visit as Scottish Football Ambassador for fast-food restaurant chain McDonalds.

Kenny was taking questions from the young players of Broughty United Youth FC during his visit before he went out onto the Whitton Park 3G training pitch to take in the young team’s training session. He talked well with the kids of his time with Celtic FC and Liverpool FC right up to talking about current players like Ronaldo and Messi. He was laughing and joking whilst interacting with his audience as well as posing for photos with the kids and signing memorabilia.

Our BAJFC Website Admin team spoke with Kenny at great length, telling him about the redevelopment of Whitton Park, all the hard work of club owner Gordon Deuchars and his ambitions for the area’s surrounding teams, whilst Kenny spoke of the train hectic journey to get to Dundee, the traffic problems in the city and his amazement that the old Stakis Earl Grey Hotel down the waterfront is no longer there!

Kenny was an absolute gentleman, an idol to many people during his time as a player… It was an absolute honour and pleasure to meet him and he wished all the players at Broughty Athletic JFC all the best for the remainder of the season…
