Up next for Broughty Athletic in their pre-season campaign build up is Highland League side Fraserburgh FC at Whitton Park this Saturday. The sides met at the start of last season in a pre-season friendly with the Aberdeenshire side leaving with a 1-0 victory over the Fed.
Following on from Tuesday night’s 7-1 win over local side Dundee Violet, Fed manager Keith Gibson knows this Saturday’s opponents will be a sterner test for his side as they play their second pre-season friendly game. Tuesday night was good to see the squad getting some game time under their belts and scoring goals, Kevin Milne bagging a double (pictured) and also for some trialists to shine, and Keith will use this Saturday’s game to run the rule again to see if he will make one or two new more signings for the club.
Visitors Fraserburgh, ply their trade in the Highland League alongside the likes of Cove Rangers, Brora Rangers, Buckie Thistle, Huntly and Formartine United. They last won the Highland League title away back in the 2001/02 season, with their previous two league titles away as far back as the 1930’s.
They finished in fifth position in season 2016/17, nineteen points behind league winners Buckie Thistle.
All fans are reminded that the kick-off for this game on Saturday at Whitton Park is 2-30pm. Admission is free of charge for the game.
