Broughty Athletic host North Region Super League side Hermes JFC this Saturday in the quarter-final stage of the GA Engineering Cup at Whitton Park. The Fed are fresh off a 1-1 away draw to Penicuik Athletic Saturday past in the Super League and will be looking to make it into the draw for the semi-finals, a draw which takes place live at Whitton Park immediately after the outcome of the game.

Visitors Hermes currently sit third bottom of their fourteen team Super League having only played eleven games amassing thirteen points, but do have several games in hands over some teams above them in the league. Hermes set up this weekend’s clash at Whitton Park by knocking out Forfar West End on penalties in the last round after a 3-3 draw.

Broughty stay seventh in their Super League following a 1-1 draw against fourth-placed Penicuik Athletic, Ross McCord equalising from the penalty spot early in the first half. Broughty reached the quarter-final stage by beating Hermes’ fellow Super League side, Culter JFC 3-1 with goals from Jamie Winter, Kevin Buchan and Ross McCord. The sides have met before in the 3rd round of the GA Cup, away back in mid-February 2014 at Whitton Park with the visitors going through 4-3 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the game. Fed manager Keith Gibson still has some injury worries to contend with going into the game, namely midfielders Brian Clark and Danny Cavanagh but captain Jamie Winter should make the squad following his substitute appearance against Penicuik Athletic following his recent injury.

Should the game end in a draw after 90 minutes then a penalty shootout will determine who enters the draw for the semi-finals. The draw for the semi-finals will take place live in the BAJFC lounge after the game.
