Broughty Athletic manager Jim Finlayson, pictured centre above, spoke of his delight following his sides emphatic 6-2 away win at local rivals Carnoustie Panmure on Saturday in the Super League. Read below what he had to say…
“I’m delighted with the three points on Saturday at Carnoustie. We played well as a team together and the players themselves set great standards, which they are all more than capable of, amongst each other in their positions and if they can keep those levels going into the next games it should bode well for the remainder of the season.
We scored some good goals but what let me down is we could have scored more, and should have. Kevin Milne scored a great hat-trick taking all three goals well, especially the free-kick. We let in two sloppy goals too which should have been avoided with a number of chances Carnoustie had. There was a couple of things that I spoke to players about too that I wansn’t happy with but overall, delighted.
A special mention has to go to young Derryn Kesson, he was given the clubs man of the match accolade on Saturday as he more than deserved it due to his hard work and determination throughout. He is a great talent when he puts his mind to it and played a great game.
But it’s another three points in the bag and we are unbeaten in the league since our arrival but that can change at any time. We have the league leaders here next week, Penicuik Athletic, they are top for a reason and it will be a tough game for us and them but we will deal with our training during the week and see what Saturday brings…”
