Broughty Athletic are on GA Engineering Cup duty this Saturday when they face local side Dundee Violet in the semi-final at Glenesk Park. Both sides are 90 minutes away from a cup final place against either Kirriemuir Thistle or Tayport who face each other in the other semi-final due to take place on Saturday.

Hosts Violet reached the semi-final stage to face the Fed after defeating East Craigie 5-3 in the previous round. Violet currently occupy bottom spot in the Premier League league having only won two games in twenty-one attempts but come Saturday, a chance to play at Dundee United’s Tannadice Park beckons in the final and they will be 100% up for the challenge. Violet’s last three fixtures in their Premier League have seen them suffer defeats against Forfar West End 5-0 and Glenrothes 2-1, with a 2-2 draw against former Super League side St Andrews United.

The Fed reached this stage of the competition following a comprehensive 5-1 win over Aberdeen side Hermes JFC with goals courtesy of Ross McCord, Grant Lawson, Shaka Roy (pictured right) and a double from former striker Kevin Buchan. The Fed’s last three fixtures in the league have seen them win 3-1 away to Hill of Beath, and record two draws at home against Kelty Hearts 0-0 and Newtongrange Star 2-2.

Broughty will go into the game with no new fresh injury worries but will welcome back captain Jamie Winter who missed the trip to Hill of Beath midweek.

Broughty have an added interest in this cup competition with BAJFC owner Gordon Deuchars the main sponsor of the cup, GA Engineering.

All fans are reminded this game is a 2-30pm kick off at Glenesk Park, home of Dundee Violet. Should the game end in a draw after ninety minutes then a penalty shootout will determine who reaches the final of the competition to play the winners of the other tie.
