East Region Premier League side Forfar West End are up next for Broughty Athletic this Saturday as they visit Whitton Park in the quarter-finals of the GA Engineering Cup.

Both sides progressed to the quarter-final tie having won their previous ties comfortably, with FWE winning at home against New Elgin 3-1 and Broughty winning away at Stonehaven 4-2, so a tight, hard fought fixture between the near local sides is on the cards.

Visitors FWE currently sit in eighth position in their Premier League having played twenty of their scheduled thirty games for the season, amassing 25 points so far. The sides last met in 2015 in the East of Scotland Cup, with the Fed coming away from Strathmore Park with a 3-1 victory.

Once again Broughty have a near full squad to choose from, with only Frankie Lannen still out injured and Jamie Sime out on loan at local side Dundee Violet. The Fed are on a two-game winning streak after back to back victories over Stonehaven FC and more recently Newtongrange Star in the league last Saturday and Fed manager Keith Gibson will be looking to make it three in a row in all competitions, something his side have not managed this season, and our visitors FWE will be out to put a stop to that.

All fans are reminded this game is a 2-30pm kick-off at Whitton Park and should the game finish in a draw then a penalty shoot-out will determine who goes into the hat for the semi-final draw of the competition.

Admission prices are £5 for Adults and £2 for OAP/Kids…
