Following last Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Luncarty in the Super League ending a winning run of five games, Broughty Athletic will be looking to get back to winning ways when they make the short journey to face fourth-placed Downfield on Saturday.

With league wins over Downfield, Forfar West End, North End, Tayport and Kirriemuir Thistle had the Fed on a winning run of five league games before visitors Luncarty came to Whitton Park on Saturday, then leaving with all three points in a 3-1 win. Broughty still occupy the second spot in the league, five points behind leaders Carnoustie Panmure but having played a game more than the leaders.

Hosts Downfield sit in fourth position, eight points behind the Fed and with two games in hand so a win for them is vital if they wish to push up into the second or third spots in the league table. They are currently on a three-game winning run having disposed of Scone Thistle 4-0, FWE 1-0 and more recently a 2-1 home win over third-placed Lochee United so a tough game for both sides is in store come Saturday.

The sides previously met at Downfield Park back in September with 1-1 draw, then in mid-October, the Fed secured a 2-0 win with Josh Skelly and Bryan Duell the goalscorers. All fans are reminded this game is a 1-30pm kick-off at Downfield Park.
