Broughty Athletic are on North Super League duty tomorrow, the only fixture in the league on the day, when they welcome local side Downfield to Whitton Park and will be looking for the three points on offer following two recent draws in the league.
The Fed equalised with virtually the last kick of the game when defender Greg Warwick salvaged a point for the Fed away to Luncarty in a game they dominated in possession says manager Jamie McCunnie and he will be expecting the three points come Saturday but knows visitors Downfield will be a tough opposition to beat.
The sides only met just recently, when defender Daryl McKenzie (pictured) made his debut, in the reverse fixture at Downfield Park with a 1-1 draw the outcome after Josh Skelly put the Fed ahead via the penalty spot only for Downfield to level the game with a long-range effort. Last season the Fed won both fixtures, 5-0 at Whitton Park and an enthralling entertaining high-scoring 6-5 at Downfield Park.
Visitors Downfield currently sit seventh in the league, five points behind Broughty and with a game in hand. Their most recent result was a 2-2 draw at North End in the league last Saturday and will prove to be a tough side on Saturday.
Missing for Broughty once again will be Ross McCord who has missed the last few games and Stuart McConnachie. A late fitness test will be given to defender and captain Graham Hay. He was taken off with a leg injury when the sides last met late last month.
All fans are reminded Saturday’s game is a 2-30pm kick 0ff at Whitton Park.
