Broughty Athletic are back on Super League this Saturday following their 5-1 Scottish Cup 3rd round win at Downfield JFC when they welcome former 2004, 2007 and 2013 Super League champions Linlithgow Rose to Whitton Park.
The Fed recorded a fantastic 2-1 win at Prestonfield Park on the opening day of this season with goals from Jamie McCunnie and Jamie Winter, despite losing Ryan Suttie to a red card late on in the game.
Visitors Linlithgow currently sit in eleventh position in the Super League on sixteen points after eleven games compared to the Fed’s twenty-two points from thirteen games. Their last Super League fixture was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Carnoustie Panmure early November. They did secure a 5-0 away win at Dundee North End in the Scottish Cup on Saturday so will be ready for their battle at Whitton Park.
Previous scorelines between the teams last season saw both sides record a victory each, Broughty winning 3-2 at Whitton Park and the Rose securing a 2-1 win at Prestonfield Park.
Broughty have no new injury worries to contend with having welcomed back Brian Clark and James Collier to the side in Saturday’s 5-1 win over local side Downfield JFC in the Scottish Cup. Although Jake Mair and goalkeeper John Sinclair will both be out. It will be the Fed’s first game without former assistant manager Stewart Petrie after he recently took up the manager’s post at senior side Montrose FC.
All fans are reminded this game is a 1-30pm kick off at Whitton Park. Admission prices are £6 for Adults and £3 for OAP/Kids. The ‘Broughty Pie Hut‘ will be in operation for those wanting to grab something to eat before and during the match. All hot food is supplied by Grants Butchers, Blackness Road, Dundee.
