Broughty Athletic ran out comfortable winners in their last pre-season friendly last night as they beat amateur side Cupar Hearts AFC 7-2 at St Andrews University grounds.

Paul McLellan opened the scoring courtesy of the penalty spot before the home side equalised to make it 1-1. Then striker Kevin Milne put the Fed ahead with Fraser Smith and Jamie Winter, straight from a corner, made it 4-1 going in at halftime.

McLellan again and Stuart McConnachie made it 6-1 before the home side pulled one back but McConnachie scored his second and Broughty’s seventh to finish the scoring. A good run out for the squad with several substitutions being made for all to get game time under their belts.

The club now has one more training session before they welcome fellow Super League side Sauchie to Whitton Park on Saturday for the opening game of the new season. Kick off is at 2-30pm.
