It’s a battle of the Athletic’s as Broughty welcome sixth-placed Broxburn Athletic to Whitton Park in the Super League on Saturday afternoon.
The Fed are fresh off a 1-0 win against Newtongrange Star last Saturday, putting an end to the recent three-game run of defeats in the league. Visitors Broxburn ran out 6-0 winners over Fraserburgh United last Saturday in the first round of the Scottish Junior Cup and managed to put seven goals past Newtongrange in the league the week before, so a hard game is in store for the Fed come Saturday.
Visitors Broxburn currently occupy sixth place in the league, one point more than Broughty but with a game in hand. They are currently on a three-game winning streak in the league with recent wins over Newtongrange Star, Hill of Beath and newly promoted Sauchie. Broxburn’s last visit to Whitton Park in April last season saw them hit Broughty for six in a 6-1 rout. The return fixture at Albyn Park saw the Fed run out 2-0 winners with goals from Stuart McConnachie (pictured) and Paul McLellan. The Fed also lost out at Albyn Park in the 3-2 East of Scotland Cup defeat last season.
Broughty go into the game missing two key players, with the manager Jim Finlayson keeping their names close to his chest. He does hope to have a couple of new signings in the squad all going well this week behind the scenes.
All fans are reminded this game is a 2-30pm kick off at Whitton Park. Admission prices are £6 for Adults and £3 for Kids/OAPs. For those wishing a hot bite to eat, the ‘Broughty Pie Shop’ will be in operation before and during the game with our hot pie supplied by the award-winning GRANTS BUTCHERS of Blackness Road in Dundee…
