Broughty Athletic came through their arranged friendly last night against Forfar West End with a comfortable 3-0 win.

It was a chance for all the squad to get some valuable match time following Saturday’s postponement in the Scottish Cup against Downfield, the game goes ahead this Saturday weather permitting.

As for the friendly game, Broughty were leading at halftime courtesy of a Kane Hester goal. Six changes at halftime within the Fed squad, Lannen, Yates, McConnachie, Kesson, Adam and Collier all coming on, saw two further goals come from strikers Matty Adam and James Collier.

Recent on loan signing Josh Allardyce replaced Iain Ross in the goal with 20mins to play and managed to pull off a vital save to keep his side’s clean sheet.

Fed manager Keith Gibson spoke briefly after the game and said…“It was a good workout for the lads to keep their fitness and momentum up going into Saturday’s cup game. It was great to see both Brian Clark and James Collier back in the team after both being out injured recently. Young Derryn Kesson, who is out on loan, had a great game too. Hopefully, the cold weather eases up and we can get the cup game played this weekend then get back to league business…”

Fingers will now be crossed for this Saturday’s second attempt to play the 3rd round Scottish Cup tie at Downfield Park. Kick off is scheduled for 1-45pm. Should the pitch require any inspections early Saturday morning, we aim to give you the latest news as we get it…
