Broughty Athletic are still looking for that elusive win in the Super League after securing a point in a 1-1 draw away to fourth-placed Penicuik Athletic this afternoon. The Fed are now ten games in the league without a win but manager Keith Gibson will be happy with the point against high flying Penicuik.

The Fed fell behind as early as the 5th minute of the game when Ryan Gay put the ball past Fed keeper Iain Ross and into the net, 1-0. But within six minutes the Whitton Park side were level when leading scorer Ross McCord, pictured below, slotted home a penalty to level the score at 1-1 after Paul McLellan was felled in the box.

Despite chances for both sides in the second half at a wet and windy Penicuik Park, there was no more scoring and both sides had to settle for a point each. The result sees Broughty stay in seventh position in the Super League, leapfrogging local side Carnoustie Panmure on goal difference following Broxburn Athletic’s 1-0 win at Bo’ness United. Penicuik stay in fourth.

A positive point for the Fed this afternoon was the return of captain Jamie Winter from injury, coming on as a substitute for the last half hour of the game replacing defender Frankie Lannen.
