Broughty Athletic continued their great start to the season with a fantastic 2-1 away win at Dundonald Bluebell in the Super League today.
Back into the starting eleven came Ryan Suttie, who was out for two games, partnering Jay Smart at the heart of the defence, also Stewart McConnachie who partnered recent new signing Matty Adam upfront. There was no place in the squad for on-loan striker Kerr Hay, he was serving an outstanding one match ban from his parent side Forfar Athletic.
Trailing to a goal after 10mins, Broughty battled on and deservedly hit back in the 39th minute via the penalty spot. Ross McCord was brought down in the box and picked himself up to slot home the resulting penalty kick, picture above of the ball heading into the net, and scoring his sixth goal of the season 1-1.
The second half was another good performance from the Fed resulting in scoring the winner on the hour mark. A long kick out from keeper Iain Ross found Paul McLennan on the wing, he cut inside and laid on the ball for recent new signing Matty Adam to slam home the ball into the net, scoring his first of the season, and secure all three points for the Fed.
Today’s win is Broughty’s third in a row in all competitions since their heavy defeat to Bonnyrigg Rose, with wins over Musselburgh Athletic in the league and West Calder United in the EOS Cup last weekend. Broughty will be looking to make it three league wins on the bounce next Saturday when they welcome Hill of Beath to Whitton Park, kick-off is at 2-30pm.
