Broughty Athletic tumbled out of the Scottish Junior Cup at the first hurdle, losing 3-0 away to Cumnock in the first round. Read below what BAJFC manager Keith Gibson had to say on the defeat…
“I felt in the first half we never played great, despite creating a couple of half chances to score, but dealt with the pressure from Cumnock and we defended it well. Going in at halftime sitting at 0-0 was also a bonus, as we have been behind in previous games.
We started the second half really well and the momentum was with us but again we lose a goal from a corner which was very disappointing and after that you could see our confidence drop throughout the team and we never really threatened on goal. We tried changing the formation going with three at the back but it came to nothing and to be honest, we went out of the competition without any real fight!
I’d like to wish Cumnock all the best in the next round of the cup.”
