Following a draw last Saturday and a midweek defeat, Broughty Athletic will be looking for maximum points come Saturday when Perthshire side Jeanfield Swifts come calling to Whitton Park in a league clash.

The Fed could only muster a 1-1 draw last Saturday away to newly promoted Kennoway Star Hearts despite hitting the woodwork several times, making the home keeper pulled off several great saves and also seeing a Paul McLellan penalty be saved. Then on Wednesday night, the Fed went down 1-0 to local rivals Lochee United so three points is a must this weekend according to caretaker manager Jamie McCunnie.

Vistors Jeanfield took all three points when Boness United went visiting last Saturday and battled out a 2-2 draw against Kennoway Hearts midweek so Saturday’s game will be a hard one for the Fed. Last season the sides fought out two draws home and away, in December 2016 the Fed rallied back to equalize courtesy of Brian Clark in a 1-1 draw and in August 2016 it was a 3-3 draw at Whitton Park with goals from Brian Clark and former players Danny Cavanagh and Ross McCord.

The Fed will make late fitness tests on two key players following their 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night at Lochee United and interim manager Jamie McCunnie will make the necessary changes should they both fail to make it. Still out injured is Dayle Robertson.

All fans are reminded this game is a 2-30pm kick off at Whitton Park. For those fans wishing a bite to eat before or during the game, the ‘Broughty Pie Shop’ will be in operation selling hot pies, snacks, teas, and coffees etc…
