Broughty Athletic crashed out of the Junior Scottish Cup at the hands of East Region Premier League side Bathgate Thistle, who currently sit fourth bottom of their league with only two wins in ten games and were humbled 4-1 away to local Dundee side Downfield JFC two weeks ago, at Whitton Park this afternoon in the second round clash.

Defender Graham Hay gave the Fed a promising start and was on the scoresheet putting the Fed 1-0 up, but two goals before the halftime whistle had the Lothian side 2-1 ahead.

The second half saw Broughty lose their discipline, once again, for the second game running, as in the previous Super League game against Penicuik Athletic, and were reduced to nine men when captain Jamie Winter was sent off for his second game in a row for two yellow cards, having previously being sent off against Penicuik, and Derryn Kesson with a straight red card from the match official.

To add insult to injury, the Fed fell further behind when Bathgate scored their third following the sending offs and sealed the win that deservedly puts them into the hat for the third round draw.
