Broughty Athletic secured a convincing 8-0 win over local side Dundee North End in their arranged friendly match at a rain-soaked DISC arena today.

It was a chance for both sides to get a much-needed runout and game time due to recent call-offs and the festive break, using multiple substitutions throughout the ninety minutes.

In-form on loan Broughty striker Kevin Buchan, pictured, opened the scoring with a double on 13mins and 23mins. He had a chance to complete his hat-trick only to hit the post on 35mins. Then a double for Grant Lawson on 38mins and 41mins had The Fed 4-0 going into halftime.

Then another Lawson double, making it four goals in total for him, on 54mins and 63mins took the scoreline to 6-0 for Broughty. Then a Stewart McConnachie tap in on 76mins and a headed Bryan Duell goal on 88mins completed the scoring for Broughty.

All credit to George Shields’ North End side, constantly putting Broughty under pressure and if not for half a dozen point blank saves from Broughty keeper Iain Ross, the scoreline could have been far different.
