It’s GA Engineering Cup football this weekend as Broughty Athletic travel to face East Region North Division side Brechin Vics in a preliminary round clash at Victoria Park, with the winners set to face Tayport in the first round proper.
Following a great 3-2 home win against Linlithgow Rose last Saturday, Fed boss Keith Gibson is looking to make it back to back victories and knows Brechin themselves will be out to cause a cup upset.
“I know their manager Charlie King very well, and he has made such a difference to the team since he took over. He’ll have them really well organised and ready for us and no doubt it’ll be a tough game in store for my side” said Keith.
Hosts Brechin Vics currently sit in tenth position in a 15 team league, having won just three games with five defeats. Goal scoring looks like their downside, having only scored three goals at home in four league games.
Missing for The Fed again will be Barry Myles and Jamie Sime, both still making a slow recovery from injuries, otherwise a full squad will make the journey North.
All fans are reminded this game is a 2-30pm kick-off at Victoria Park, home of Brechin Vics. Should the game end in a draw after 90 minutes then a penalty shoot-out will determine who enters the first round to face Super League side Tayport.
