Broughty Athletic’s assistant manager Stewart Petrie will be leaving the club to take up his new position at senior side Montrose FC as their new manager.

Stewart joined the club in the summer as assistant to Keith Gibson after being approached to join following a vacancy in the management side of things at the club. His training sessions, his passion, his commitment to the current squad of players was nothing short of 100% every time.

46 yr-old Stewart started his career with senior side Forfar Athletic back in 1989, making 117 appearances for them before joining Dunfermline Athletic and racking up 256 appearances with 46 goals thrown in too. Moving abroad to Australia saw Stewart play for several different sides before he returned and played 13 times for Ross County in the 2007/8 season.

After his playing career was over, Stewart went on to be the assistant manager at Arbroath FC for three years, where Fed manager Keith Gibson was plying his trade as a player, before moving to Forfar Athletic as assistant manager.

Everyone at BAJFC wishes Stewart all the very best at Montrose FC and thank him for his time at the club.
