Following Saturday’s GA Engineering Cup call off away to Stonehaven FC due to a frozen pitch, Broughty Athletic manager Keith Gibson curses another wasted Saturday in the 2015/16 season calendar.

We spoke to Keith after Saturday’s training session, here’s what he had to say…

“What can I say that I already haven’t about these call-offs…it’s just so frustrating missing out playing a match, especially when we see our pitch clearly playable as with the majority of pitches in Dundee. Stonehaven were hopeful of the game going ahead, their pitch was lined and ready for our arrival but sadly the cold snap put paid to that early in the morning.

We have now been handed our new fixture for next Saturday, and it’s a tough one away to Linlithgow Rose. By the time that game comes it will be three weeks since the lads last played a competitive game, against Sauchie and three games in total since the middle of November! But there’s no point in going on about it, we’ll train hard again this week in preparation for our trip, as Linlithgow have been in the headlines recently with their terrific run in the senior Scottish Cup and a very hard game is in store for us, and them too. We had the pleasure of beating them back in October at home 3-2, fingers crossed for a repeat of that scoreline or any other in our favour…”
