Broughty 1
(McCord) ⚽️
Kennoway Star 0
Another valuable 3 points on the road this weekend as Broughty managed to overcome a Kennoway team that were eager to impress their new manager.
Inside the first 10 minutes Broughty had 2 excellent chances to take the lead but failed to capitalise. The rest of the half seen most of the action played in the middle 3rd with neither keeper tested or troubled.
In the second half both teams lacked any cutting edge despite plenty effort and this game was going to need something special to settle it.
Fortunately for Broughty, Ross McCord stepped up and thundered a 30yard free kick in off the bottom of the post to give us the lead.
Kennoway then threw an extra man forward trying to get an equaliser but the Broughty defence handled this well and made sure their keeper had a quiet afternoon. Broughty looked a threat down their left hand side with Ryan Blair and Paul Mclellan linking up well and causing problems, unfortunately they couldn’t add to their lead and had to see the rest of the game out and finish with a 1-0 win.
We return to cup action next Saturday when we travel to Forfar Albion in the Signature Sign’s Cup. 2.30 pm kick off @ Guthrie Park
