Broughty Athletic travel back across the River Tay to face rivals Tayport in the 1st round of the GA Engineering Cup at the Canniepairt on Saturday.
The sides last met mid-November, Broughty’s last competitive fixture due to recent weather postponements, with The Fed coming home with all three points with goals coming from Paul Mclellan, Grant Lawson and a Kevin Buchan double in a 4-2 win in the Super League.
Since that game hosts, Tayport have had only the two competitive fixtures, drawing 0-0 at home against Muirkirk in the Scottish Cup and winning the replay convincingly 5-0 the following week, so themselves have not played for a couple of weeks.
Both sides go into the game with the last fixture fresh in their minds, with Broughty producing some of their best football all season to storm into a 3-0 lead only for a brave fightback by the Port, scoring two then hitting the crossbar, so Saturday is sure to be another cracking game between the sides.
Broughty have no fresh injury worries going into the game. A debut could be on the cards for former Tayport player Ryan Suttie(pictured left), who joined The Fed five days after the last meeting between the sides, or maybe a place on the bench for his first squad outing.
All fans are reminded this game is a 1-30pm kick-off at The Canniepairt, Tayport. Should the game end in a draw after 90 minutes a penalty shoot-out will decide who enters the hat for the second round draw.
Admission prices are at The Canniepairt are £5 for Adult, £2 for OAP/Kids.
