Broughty Athletic welcome current Super League leaders Penicuik Athletic to Whitton Park this Saturday in the league. The Fed are unbeaten in their last three games with two wins and a draw and Saturday’s game is as hard as they come.
Fresh of the 6-2 mauling of local rivals Carnoustie Panmure, Fed manager Jim Finlayson knows his side will be tested this weekend by the league leaders who have won all of their four games on their travels.
Visitors Penicuik were in Fife & Lothians Cup action on Saturday against fellow Super League side Broxburn Athletic and ran out emphatic 5-2 winners. They are unbeaten in the league so far this season with seven wins and two games drawn, having played two games less than the Fed. The sit at the top two points clear of Bonnyrigg Rose and will be in for a tough game come Saturday.
Last seasons results between the side saw Broughty run out 1-0 winners at Whitton Park, picture above of Broughty’s Brian Clark with the ball from the game, with the reverse fixture being a 1-1 draw at Penicuik Park in March this year with former Fed player, and current trialist at the club, Ross McCord equalizing from the penalty spot.
