Broughty Athletic manager Keith Gibson gave his views on his sides 5-0 win over Brechin Vics in the 2nd round of the East of Scotland Cup.
Read below what he had to say on the game…
” I was very happy with the team’s performance against Vics and felt we played at a great tempo during the first half, playing some really good football throughout the park. The link up between our midfield and strikers was excellent and we probably should of went in at halftime with more goals than just the three we had.
We started the second half a bit flat and never really matched the first halfs tempo, but the last 15-20 minutes was far better, but overall the team and myself are happy to be in the hat for the next round of the cup competition.
Really delighted for our new loanee, Kevin Buchan, getting a hat-trick on his debut for the club and putting in an excellent performance all round. Another big positive for the club was the return of defender Jamie Sime playing for the last 15 minutes after his long-term injury. Now that is everyone fit at the club going into the winter period we now have healthy competition for places in the squad which can only be a good thing for the club and everyone. We’ll have another good week of training whilst we look ahead to next Saturdays visit of Hill of Beath in the Super League…”
