Broughty Athletic defender Frankie Lannen has joined East Region North Division side Newburgh Juniors on loan until the end of the year the club can announce.
Frankie has not started a game for the Fed this season as he recovered from a foot injury picked up towards the end of last season’s campaign. He came through pre-season but he picked up the same foot injury again which saw him ruled out of Broughty’s first eight Super League games. It was only two weeks ago he returned to training with the rest of the Broughty squad.
Frankie’s new club, Newburgh, languish in second-bottom place in the North Division, with just the one point collected from their opening six league games. With Frankie’s quality of playing at Super League level last season, he’s hoping to help out his new club as well as regain his place back in the Fed squad come the turn of the year. Other local teams playing in the same league are the likes of East Craigie, Dundee North End, and Lochee Harp.
Broughty Athletic manager Keith Gibson said of the new deal between Frankie and Newburgh…
“It will be a chance for Frankie to build up his match fitness levels at Newburgh and give him much needed game time before returning to us at the end of the year for the second half of the season. Frankie’s a great lad to have in your squad and around at the club on match days, but he knows he needs this move to try and fight his way back into the side, a side that has been playing great and has us sitting third top in the Super League…”
All at BAJFC wish Frankie all the best with his loan move to new club Newburgh.
